Ball mills are widely used in industry,  increase the production and reduce the ball mill consumption is great significance for the industries. As a professional manufacturer of ball mills, Through our research and analysis, the following suggestions are made for increasing the ball mill production and reducing the ball mill consumption .

1.Reduce the moisture content of the grinding material


When the moisture content of the material is not very large, the following measures can be taken: increase the area of the raw material storage yard (shed) and strengthen the natural drying of the raw materials; the raw materials should be stacked in the stack during the rainy season; the factory that buys raw materials from the outside must be strictly controlled.


The dried and wet materials are mixed into the mill or pre-homogenized. Make the water even and the quality is even. When the material moisture is too large, a rotary dryer can be added. Adding a dryer requires a lot of money, so we need to conduct a detailed feasibility study.


2.Properly reduce the material feed size

The economic balance and capacity balance of the crusher and the grinding system should be considered comprehensively, so it is proposed to appropriately reduce the particle size of the milled material. The average particle size of the milled material is reduced from 20mm to 10mm, then the output of the mill can be increased by 20%.
it is also possible to reduce the particle size of the grinding material by adding a first-stage crusher.

3.Choose the right amount of grinding balls and proportion

(1) increase the ball load appropriately

Increasing the loading or filling rate of the grinding balls within a certain range ,can increase the output of the ball mill and reduce the power consumption .

However, the ball load is not as high as possible, the load is large to a certain extent, and the grinding efficiency is rather reduced. In addition, the quantity of grinding balls in each bin must be distributed and combined with a reasonable proportion,then can  increase the mill output.

(2) Suitable grinding balls proportion

Generally, the first compartment can select balls size within 80-110mm. The second compartment select slightly smaller balls than the fist compartment . If the first compartment balls are 60mm, the second compartment can be selected as a 60mm or 50mm balls .


4.Control the appropriate discharge grid width

The width of the discharge grid is not only related to the material passing amount , but it also limits the larger particle size through the material. It is more important to reasonably control the grid width of the first compartment . Because the grid width of the first compartment is controlled, the large granular material can be effectively restricted to enter the second compartment, and the larger material can be clamped in the first compartment . then can improve the ball mill capacity .
Generally , the dry process ball mill discharge grid control in 6mm in open circuit, for closed circuit ,the grid width can be controlled in 10mm.
. In addition, the grid must be processed to be smooth and uniform in size. When the grid is too large, it can be repaired with fine steel bars. The grid plate with too small grid size cannot be used.

5.Strengthen mill ventilation

To strengthen the ventilation of the mill, the following measures can be taken: reduce the ventilation resistance, such as appropriately expanding the outlet bore width, often cleaning the debris in the borehole, reasonably arranging the ventilation ducts, etc., doing a good job of sealing and reducing the air leakage, and grinding the tail in the winter and autumn. Add a stove to the end or end to warm. For mechanically ventilated mills, it is possible to increase the speed of the fan appropriately and switch to a large air volume fan. For naturally ventilated mills, it is possible to increase the diameter and height of the air duct, and add a whist or whistle (mechanical ventilation can increase the output by about 20%).



6.Control the appropriate fineness index

The fineness of the grinding product has a great influence on the yield of the mill table. The fineness of the material must be properly controlled. The too coarse can not meet the requirements of physical and chemical reactions. If the fineness is too fine, the grinding efficiency of the mill will be greatly reduced, so control Fineness should be considered in terms of quality, high yield and low consumption. Through experimental research, it is found that if the material fineness is increased from 5% to 10%-12%, the yield of the mill can be increased by 20%-30%, and the benefit is very considerable.



7.Pay attention to the addition and clearance of the grinding media

The abrasive body is the material basis for the grinding work. Whether the addition and clearance of the grinding body is timely is related to the stability of the grinding body loading and grading and the stability of the grinding machine quality. Therefore, it is necessary to formulate a regular clearance system. The warehouse clearance period should be short, and the second warehouse clearance period can be longer. Adding the grinding body should also pay attention to the balance of the front and rear warehouse capacity. If only one warehouse capacity is sufficient, the mill can only work under the capacity of the second warehouse. On the contrary, if only the capacity of the second warehouse is sufficient, the mill can only have the capacity of one warehouse. Work under


8.grinding media selection in the fine grinding chamber

For the closed circuit ball mill, since the fine grinding bin still has large granular material, it is preferable to use a small steel ball as the grinding media, and the small ball cleared from the front bin can be added to the rear bin to continue to use, thereby saving the consumption of the grinding body. For the open flow mill, it can be used for ball forging and mixing, which can take into account the advantages of the ball and the forging, and can also use the small ball cleared from the front bin.


9.Open flow system change to closed circuit ball mill

A recognized and effective way to increase ball mill throughput is to change the open flow to be closed flow,This measure can increase the output of a small mill by 10% to 40%.

10.Pay attention to the support of auxiliary equipment

Some factory mills have lower auxiliary equipment capacity than the main engine (such as bucket elevator, screw conveyor ,etc.). The whole system can only work under the condition of satisfying the weak auxiliary machine capacity, and it is impossible to increase the production time of the grinding machine. It is very inappropriate to affect the performance of the mill due to insufficient auxiliary equipment capacity. If conditions are met, the auxiliary equipment capacity should be improved as much as possible.
